Sign up and pass it along
Is this seemingly endless political and economic slump getting you down?
Wondering when things will turn around? Don’t despair!
Take the Good Jobs Pledge.
Quality jobs that provide a good standard of living are indeed possible, but they don’t just appear automatically – not without some effort. These kinds of jobs – whether it be as a teacher, welder, production worker, bus driver, sanitation worker, are all crucial to the vitality of our communities. And they are all connected.
Governments can invest in good jobs, through sound sector-based policies which include domestic procurement provisions, negotiating fair trade agreements to the real benefit of Canadian jobs (and not trying to hide the facts), and requiring Canadian manufacturing footprints for producers who sell in Canada – just to name a few ideas.
Global corporations must also live up to their responsibility. They rake in enormous profits in Canada, manufacturing and selling their products here. Corporations must invest more in Canadian operations and innovation.
Sign the Good Jobs Pledge now.
And after you sign, make sure to share the pledge with your friends, family, co-workers and neighbours – by email, social media or download a paper copy here.
Still want to do something and have some thoughts you want to share?
Send a letter to the editor – it’s never been easier!
